For patients with missing teeth, a ‘bridge’ may be used to attach a false tooth with support from the adjacent teeth.
The adjacent teeth will receive a similar surface preparation to teeth receiving a crown fitting.  If this is a problem for the adjacent teeth, then alternative bridge types might be used.  If a front or near-front tooth has recently been extracted, the patient may need to wait several months to allow for gum shrinkage before a bridge can be fitted.
Our dentist at Warrnambool Dental can discuss the process used and the most appropriate type of bridge for your teeth.
